Anyone who often browses the Fortepan website has surely come across the name Sándor Bauer.
He was a frequently commissioned photographer of the Kádár era; producing propaganda materials was as much a part of his work as capturing countless everyday and exceptional moments. His images feature café servers attending to guests, models in advertising shoots, and the political leaders of the period.
Naturally, I’ve selected his photographs that depict neon advertisements; if you’d like to dive deeper into the world of the 1960s, head over to Fortepan.
