Turning neon signs into posters

A poster series has been created from the iconic neon signs of past decades to help save them.

The heyday of neon advertising began in 1970, when a citywide program to outfit Budapest with neon signs was launched. The signs were produced and maintained by the Neonberendezéseket Gyártó Vállalat (Neon Equipment Manufacturing Company). When the regime changed, the company was dissolved without a legal successor, and the neon signs began to decline rapidly. Graphic designer Luca Patkós decided not to let this happen and founded the CSŐ!project, whose goal is to ensure that these imposing pieces of our history survive into the future.
